Intel's Haswell-E HEDT CPUs up for pre-order in the US

by on17 July 2014

All three SKUs listed

While Intel's HEDT Haswell-E platform is expected sometime in September, this did not stop one US based retailer from listing all three upcoming CPU SKUs for pre-order, including the six-core Core i7-5820K and the Core i7-5930K as well as the flagship eight-core Core i7-5960X.

While all previous reports suggested that the upcoming Haswell-E CPUs should be priced similary to the Ivy Bridge-E lineup back when it was launched, the pre-order listing from the US retailer ShopBLT.com which was spotted by CPU-World, suggest that we either might see somewhat higher prices, or the retailer simply wants to earn some extra cash from early pre-order listing.

The flagship eight-core 20MB L3 cache equipped Core i7-5960X tray model is listed at ShopBLT.com at US $1,107.84, which is a good US $100 over the original US $999 price tag of the previous Ivy Bridge-E Core i7-4960X. Of course, the Core i7-4690X is priced at US $1,092.31 in that same store so you should take this and upcoming prices with a grain of salt.

The two six-core Haswell-E SKUs, the Core i7-5930K and the Core i7-5820K are priced at ShopBLT.com at US $631.54 and US $425.92, respectively. These two prices are also a bit on the high side when compared to the Ivy Bridge-E counterparts.

The US $999 price tag, or even higher, was always an endless debate but those CPUs were still selling and was the CPU if you are looking for the best and fastest consumer CPU at that point in time, so we are quite sure that the Haswell-E Core i7-5960X will be the same, whatever the price is.

As reported earlier, Intel's Haswell-E HEDT platform, which includes these three SKUs and the upcoming Intel X99 Express chipset, and which will bring support for DDR4 memory, is scheduled to launch sometime in September.
