Intel has launched its high-performance Xen 6 ‘Granite Rapids’ 6900P-series models, featuring five new processors with 72- to 128-cores.

Intel has officially launched its new Xeon W-3500 and Xeon W-2500 series workstation processors based on Sapphire Rapids architecture, bringing more CPU cores, higher L3 cache, and higher frequency across the board.

144-core Sierra Fores and Clearwater Forest on 18A

Intel held its Data Center and AI Investor webinar earlier today, updating its Xeon roadmap, and showing progress on its P-core Xeon and E-core Xeon lineups. The big surprise was the E-core Xeon lineup, the 144-core Sierra Forest Xeon, coming in 1H 2024, and the Clearwater Forest Xeon lineup, scheduled for 2025 on Intel 18A manufacturing process. The P-Core Xeon lineup is on track with Emerald Rapids in Q4 2023, and Granite Rapids, closely following Sierra Forest in 2024.

So much for energy conservation 

While companies are churning out press releases about how they are saving polar bears by greenwashing their operations, Intel has put out a processor which could make the lights dim in parts of Texas if it is ever turned on.
