Blighty moves up spam league tablets

At last something the UK is good at
The UK might be useless at football or hanging on to Empires but it is proving to be moving up the league tables when it comes to pushing spam.

Insecurity experts Symantec have just published MessageLabs Intelligence Report for August. It has found that the UK has doubled its spam levels since April, which is something that Blighty can be proud of, along with its record for having the highest teen pregnacy ratings in Europe.

The UK can now be cheered by the fact that it is responsible for 4.5 per cent of the world’s spam, which makes it the fourth most prolific spammer in the world behind the US, India and Brazil. Sophos said something similar last last month, claiming that the UK was fourth and responsible for 4.6 per cent of all spam.

Botnets are one of the key reasons why UK ranks so highly. Apparently we are joining botnets almost as soon as we can download the malware to do it. More than 95 per cent of the email inbox clogging stuff comes from a Botnet.
