Search engine outfit Google might have pulled the plug on its Wave product, but in response to user cries of foul at its passing has open sourced more of the code. Dubbed Wave in a Box, Google says that it is going to include an application bundle with a server and web client.
Apparently it will support collaboration using the same structure as Wave. It will also give API support and the ability to support the integration of wave data from wave.google.com.
Although few people were interested in Wave, the feeling is that Google should have let it live a bit longer. Open sourcing it means that developers who want to play with it can set it up to run itself.
