Maker of expensive printer ink HP has said that component shortage problems have already been resolved and its notebook orders in May and June will reach between 4.15 million and five million. According to Digitimes HP originally expected most of its new notebooks, set for launch at the end of the second quarter, would suffer from a shortage.

Japan's optical drive supply line was devastated by the earthquake; however the suppliers appear to have recovered and HP had been aggressively stocking the related inventories in March and April. It now looks like the company no longer has a component shortage crisis.

HP currently has a notebook inventory level of 4-5 weeks with its retail partners' order placements in May already achieving the company target. Orders from Europe's retail channel are still weak, with orders from North America and Latin America retailers running normally.
