US trying to encourage more investment from Taiwan

TSMC will need to go more “developing nation” than China

Now that China is doing rather well, it is starting to look like TSMC might have to look elsewhere to provide it with cheap labour.

China is getting pretty expensive and labour unions there are starting to get a little more militant. Now it seems that US senator Bill Owens, who represents the North Country, has travelled to Taiwan on Wednesday to talk with TSMC about a possible business investment in California.

TSMC is GlobalFoundries competition and it has a $4.6 billion computer chip factory in Saratoga County. Apparently he is not likely to have much luck, while TSMC is being encouraged into the US to help its developing economy, it is more interested in New York state.
