WWDC 2012: 650k apps, 30 billion downloads, US $5 billion paid to devs

During the kick off of Apple's WWDC 2012 keynote, App Store snatched a good part of presentation time. The company wanted to show off some new milestones, including 650,000 apps and 30 billion downloads thereof since it went live four years ago.

During the keynote, Tim Cook noted that Apple's App Store has hit 650,000 apps and 225,000 are iPad-specifically designed, "a great advantage over just a few hunderd for our competition". Cook also added that customers have downloaded over 30 billion apps and over $5 billion has been paid to developers. According to Tim Cook, App Store has the largest number of accounts with credit cards anywhere on the internet.

On a similar note, 32 new countries are coming to the App Store which adds up to a total of 155 countries.
