At today’s Rene James keynote we had a chance to see the first demo of one upcoming Facebook related products from McAfee, an antivirus outfit that is owned by Intel for quite some time now.
The application is a Facebook app that will be available via Facebook and in this beta phase it can protect all your photos where you got tagged by preventing people from copying them. The shocking part was that this rather cool tool was announced on August 28th but no one simply picked up and made a big deal out of it.
The app simply blurs the photos that you try to copy to clipboard and when you paste it you get a McAfee logo in front of your blurred picture. It doesn’t let your friends and enemies on Facebook have fun with your picture, like drawing mustaches on your girlfriend's face. It is in beta phase but the engineer lady who demonstrated it on a kid's photo said that you can see it as „A kind of Condom for your digital life”. She did surprise a few by this comment.
The application looks interesting but Intel didn't tell us if this is going to be free or cost money, nor when exactly it will be available to the public.
