Apple has worked out that it is flogging a lemon with its new iPad  Mini and is trying to rush out a new improved version.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the new iPad will fix the fact that Apple was dumb enough to release the iPad  mini with ancient graphics which made it look bad alongside the Amazon Fire. One of the biggest complaints about Apple's recently-released iPad mini is its lack of a true Retina display. A Chinese tech website with a pretty good track record of reputability say Apple suppliers already have Retina displays in the works for the iPad mini 2.

AU Optronics, the company that currently supplies the display panels for the iPad mini, is working on a new 2048x1536 Retina display for the iPad mini 2. The iPad mini has a 7.9-inch display with a 1024x768 resolution. It is thought that offering the same resolution found on the third- and fourth-generation iPad.

It would also mean that all those that bought the current mini really did waste their cash. The rumour is also that Apple will be using Sharp's IGZO technology in the new  iPad mini, which will allow the tablet's display to be thinner and more power efficient. The iPad mini 2 is rumoured to be going into production late this year, with a launch in the Spring of 2013. This means that the shelf life of the first one is even shorter than the usual year of Apple products.
