Microsoft has confirmed by a post by Yusuf Mehdi that the Xbox One was out of stock at most retailers during the 2013 holiday season in the 13 countries where the console was launched.

Mehdi confirmed that the console sole over three million since its release and that includes the 2 million that the company had already confirmed that they sold in the first 18 days of launch. Mehdi says that “…we were honored to see the Xbox One become the fastest selling console in the US during our launch in November.”

Mehdi goes on to say that they are working as fast as they can to get more stock on dealer shelves and demand for the Xbox One remains strong. While Mehdi says that they are working to get more consoles on retailer shelves as fast as possible, he provides no indication of when he believes that the shortage of consoles will be satisfied.
