A short while ago we wrote about the fancy Marriott hotel chain offering VR headsets to their guests and we blasted the effort. To put it succintly, we were stupid. See, at first we read the Marriott announcement way too literally. It was going on about how VR can let you experience remote destinations without ever leaving the room you're staying in, and we fell for it.

Of course that was never the point and we figured it out, eventually. VR is there for games and pr0n. Pr0n and games, rather. That's what it's for, that's what's going to pay for its development and adoption and that's the context to analyse VR in.

With our new smarts, we're actually excited, from a purely technological point of view, to see what Oculus and their partners come up with next.

We won't have to wait for way too long, as the Oculus Connect 2 conference is starting tomorrow, with the keynote stream beginning at 10am ET. The lucky smart people who've already had loads of virtual sex can experience some more 360 degree excitement if they download the NextVR app just before the keynote starts, plug their Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge into the $200 bucks sex toy VR accessory and make sure the room door is securely locked.
