The new UC and MD series

Gateway has announced new notebooks that will be a part of its new MD and UC series. The UC series features a 13.3-inch display while the MD series boosts a bigger 15.6-inch display.

The 13.3-inch UC series should pack a decent punch for a notebook of that size as it features a widescreen display with a top resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, Intel's Pentium, Core Duo or Core 2 Duo CPU, up to 4GB of memory, Intel's GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics and up to 320GB of hard drive space.

Other specifications for the UC series include 802.11bgn WiFi, 1.3 megapixel webcam, an HDMI port, brushed aluminum keyboard, slot loading DVD with LabelFlash, and much more.

The 3.5kg heavy 15.6-inch MD series has a rather disappointing 1,366x768 resolution, but on the other hand it supports both Intel or AMD CPU's and comes with a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 graphics card or that lame Intel GMA 4500MHD. Other specs include up to 500GB of hard drive space, up to 4GB of memory, 802.11bgn Wi-Fi, 1.3MP webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, and optional Blu-Ray drive.

Both the UC and the MD series are available now. The suggested retail price stands at US $649.99 for the base model in the MD series, while the base model in the UC series has a suggested price set at US $749.99.
