Trump furious at EU over Google fine

How dare you

US President Donald (Prince of Orange) Trump has turned puce over the EU daring to tackle Google over its Android antitrust antics.

For those who came in late, the European Union dared to fine Google rather a lot of cash for using its Android powers to squeeze out other software from its smartphones. The EU's aim is to support manufacturers which sell smart devices using different versions of the Android operating system to Google's, such as Amazon's Fire OS, which she said they had been prevented from doing.

However Trump is having none of that. He thinks it is all a cunning plan to check the US's world domininance and that the EU was "taking advantage of the United States and claimed that the US's closest ally was a "trade foe".

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is scheduled to meet with Trump at the White House next Wednesday to discuss trade and other issues.

But two former antitrust enforcers said it was unusual for officials to comment on decisions by enforcers in other jurisdictions.

Gene Kimmelman, a Justice Department veteran now with advocacy group Public Knowledge, said: “I see it doing no good for Google or anyone else.”

William Kovacic, a former chairman of the Federal Trade Commission who teaches at the George Washington University Law School, agreed it was unusual but not unheard of  but was totally counterproductive.

"Whether or not you like the result, this is law enforcement in Europe and we wouldn’t like anyone interfering with law enforcement in the US.”

We guess Trump will either declare a stronger trade war against the EU or will say that he has been misquoted by the leftish press and he actually said Google was in the wrong and the EU was great. We guess he will be a lot happier when his chum Putin takes over the EU and he will not have to worry about it.
