Apple announces “special event”

Tame Apple Press gets all moist

Apple announced a special event for 10 November but gave no further details aside from a tag line of "one more thing".

For those who don’t know "one more thing" was a sales line from Steve Jobs where he tacked on something to a product announcement which could have been part of the main show, but was presented towards the end to make it look more significant.

In this case it will be the first look of new Mac computers using its own processor chips, dubbed Apple Silicon, before the end of the year. As you would expect, the Tame Apple Press is going overboard with enthusiasm. Of course, no one is sure what Apple is going to announce, but it means that the Tame Apple Press will speculate for the next few days about it and provide Apple will a lot of free publicity.

“The Apple Silicon Macs will mark the start of a transition away Intel, Apple's supplier for laptop and desktop processors since 2006”, enthused Reuters.

Another possibility is a new pair of over-ear AirPods headphones and tracking tags similar to those made by Tile to bolster Apple’s accessories business.

All up, a bit of a yawn.
