Activision Blizzard refuses to acknowledge Proletariat union

by on16 January 2023

Could the company get any more 19th century?

Activision Blizzard, which has a history of bullying and sexist behaviour to female staff has taken yet another step towards being backward 19th century capitalists by refusing to acknowledge a staff trade union at one of its video game studios.

Staff at Activision Blizzard-owned video game studio Proletariat announced their intention to form a union in December of last year, presumably to get some collective protection from management sexual abusers and bullies.

Earlier this week, however, Proletariat leadership shared an update that instead of voluntarily recognising the union, it will conduct an anonymous vote through the National Labor Relations Board.

Proletariat's owner Activision Blizzard has been accused of employing union-busting tactics in its negotiations with two other subsidiaries that have voted to unionise, Raven Software and Blizzard Albany.
