For those not in the know, Audeze is based in California and its headphones, targeted at gamers and audio buffs.

Its hardware is often priced into four-figures, and gets high marks from reviewers and users who are more often told that Beats headphones are the beast and are surprised what a decent pair of headphones sounds like.

In a release announcing the news, the companies are quick to note that operating under the Sony banner won't mean platform exclusivity. Audeze will continue to produce gaming headphones for competitors, including -- presumably -- the Xbox.

Playstation branded products, will come later.
