Musk’s tin turkey recalled again

by on26 June 2024

Fourth time now

Since its grand debut late last year, Tesla has once again summoned its Cybertruck back to the garage for what will be the fourth recall for the stainless steel-clad behemoth.

The Cybertruck's windshield wipers have developed a rebellious streak. Tesla's "super-efficient" engineers noticed the issue in February. It is possible that a driver hurtling down the highway during a downpour could have their wipers abandon ship.

Another issue is that the trim piece along the truck bed has also decided to play hide-and-seek. It nonchalantly detaches itself and goes airborne, threatening unsuspecting motorists, pedestrians or anything else it hits. Apparently the factory adhesive application was as half-hearted as spit.

Tesla will graciously replace your wiper motor and reattach that rogue trim piece—all at no cost, of course. Expect a heartfelt letter detailing these thrilling developments on August 18. It's like receiving a personalised invitation to a disaster-themed party.

Tesla does have a long history of recalls.  It recalled a whopping 2.2 million vehicles because the font size on its instrument panels was microscopic.

Then, there was the accelerator pedal escapade. Nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks were summoned back to base because their pedals wanted to perform a wild dislodging dance.

While its ruler Elon [look at me] Musk demands more money to get him to come to work, Wedbush Securities analysts whisper in hushed tones about Tesla's long-term survival. It hinges on diversification, so the Cybertruck is crucial to the company’s plans—assuming they can get it to go.
