Intel targets ARM now

AMD and Nvidia too hard

In a sign of how bad things have gotten for the once mighty Chipzilla, its CEO Pat [Kicking] Gelsinger says he is now targeting ARM’s "short-lived" ARM CPU dominance.

Gelsinger claims that Intel’s latest Lunar Lake mobile platform is set to dethrone ARM-based alternatives.

Gelsinger said: “We've gone from many steps to production. We're now consistently delivering an A and B step. With Lunar Lake, we'll dispel some of the myths around the battery life of X86 versus arm in a very declarative way. It simply is a great product.”

Kicking Pat was particularly enthusiastic about Lunar Lake’s power efficiency, claiming that they will address myths in a "declarative" way. No, we are not sure what he means either.

To be fair, Lunar Lake’s initial benchmarks show that Intel's new mobile SKUs feature some of the most impressive battery life. One review claimed that a Lenovo Yoga 7i Aura Edition gave eight hours 11 hours and 31 minutes of battery life.

This is claimed to be the highest battery life offered by x86 and even competes against top-tier ARM laptops.
