The deal, announced alongside plans to open-source the platform, marks another significant step in Nvidia's expansion beyond graphics chips into AI infrastructure management.
Run:ai's platform, which has been supporting Nvidia GPUs exclusively since the startup’s founding in 2018, enables enterprises to efficiently manage and schedule GPU resources for AI applications across cloud and on-premises environments.
Founders Omri Geller and Ronen Dar [pictured] stated that open sourcing the software will pave the way for a broader compatibility with other AI ecosystems, broadening its appeal and utility.
The acquisition follows years of collaboration between Nvidia and Run:ai, which began in 2020. Integrating Run:ai’s technology bolsters Nvidia’s software portfolio as the company consolidates its position as a leader in AI hardware and software solutions.
Currently valued at $3.56 trillion, Nvidia has been aggressively pursuing growth in AI, aiming to build comprehensive infrastructure management solutions alongside its market-leading GPUs.
The move to open-source Run:ai's platform is part of the outfit’s cunning plan to obtain a wider AI development ecosystem.
