Virgin Blue fires staff for blue movie ring
Don't use the
office network to distribute porn
More than 20 Virgin Blue staff and managers from Sydney and Brisbane airports have been fired for running a porn distribution network on the airlines computer system.
The airline said the staff had been "terminated" this week after ignoring at least one warning about breaching the company's code of conduct regarding inappropriate internet use. Virgin Blue has had a bit of a porn problem as this is the second time that the porn distribution network has raised its head. The sackings come on the back of another investigation into 40 staff last month.
Virgin said that the staff involve were not face-to-face staff responsible for dealing with customers. In fact they were mainly baggage handlers who repeatedly used work computers in offices and staff rooms to watch pornography and then swap material deemed "good".
One shift was so bad that the airline could not fire them all because there was no staff left to replace them. She said all of the 20 staff had been notified of their termination within the past two days.
