Motorola slashes Xoom prices

Motorola has lowered the price of its 32GB WiFi Xoom tablet from $599 to $499, thus telling the world that sales aren’t as good as expected.

Motorola is facing stiff competition from other Android tablet makers, such as Asus, Samsung and Acer. However all Android tablets are still rather pricey and they come close to Apple’s iPads in terms of value for money, or lack thereof.

Other vendors are struggling as well. Asus revised its shipment goals for 2011 more than once and Toshiba is also expected to cut the price of its tablets.
