Not that we did not expect it, but Reuters has posted a report based on anonymous Asustek executive that confirms the upcoming launch of the 7-inch Google Nexus tablet that is expected to be announced later today at Google I/O developer conference.

There has been a lot of talk about the upcoming 7-inch Google Nexus tablet and most, if not all, information point out to Amazon's US$199 Kindle Fire tablet as a competition target. Amazon Kindle Fire managed to snag quite a market share and although the aforementioned Asus source did not comment on specific price or release date, it was quite obvious that we will see exactly what was rumoured.

Of course, Google might have a trump card or two hidden up its sleeve, which could make the new tablet more competitive. We will find out in a few hours.
