Although it is designed around a bigger 12.3-inch screen, the new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet is thinner and lighter compared to the previous generation. It packs a bit more punch thanks to the new Intel Skylake CPUs. The 12.3-inch PixelTouch display has a 2736x1824 resolution, which adds up to 267ppi of pixel density, supports 10-point multi-touch with GPU-based processing, 100% sRGB color gamut with individual calibration and 1300:1 contrast ratio.
The precise dimensions of the new Surface Pro 4 are set at 292.10x201.42x8.4mm and it weighs 766g or 786g, depending on the CPU. It will be available in silver color choice, use a magnesium chassis and features the same kickstand seen on the Surface Pro 3.
The Surface Pro 4 will be available with Intel's 6th generation Core Skylake Core m3, Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs and Intel HD Graphics 515, HD Graphics 520 or Iris graphics, depending on the CPU. It comes with up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of SSD storage, a battery life of up to 9 hours, 802.11ac WiFi, 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, full size USB 3.0 port, mini-DisplayPort output and standard audio jacks.
Ther is a new Surface Pen, which features 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and will be available in a couple of different versions. The Surface Pro 4 tablet has new Type Covers which feature a 40 percent larger touchpad, backlit keyboard with new switches and more.
Prices will will start at US $899 and will climb up to US $2,199 depending on the configuration. Pre-orders will open on October 7th and first devices are expected to ship on October 26th.
