The picture quality of OLED full HD 1920x1080 is superb compared to anything else we seen on a notebook. The black looks much better than on any other display technology and the colours are crisp too. An Alienware representative took time to show us the greatness of the notebook prototype. It was made in red, but Mary Phuong from Alienware could not confirm that this color will be in the final production.
The OLED version will be available this spring starting at $1,449. Once you see the quality of the screen, you will not mind the price difference. Alienware 13 R2 with 13 inch FHD 1920 x 1080 IPS-Panel Anti-Glare 220-nits Display starts at $1,249.99, making an IPS an acceptable price difference.
The demos of Windows 10 and Ultra Street Fighter IV in OLED were amazing. LaptopMag has a video of the sytem and its picture of the OLED screen turned out to be better than mine. The response time of OLED is around 1 ms, 1.07 ms if you are really pedantic about decimals. We were so staggered with the picture quality that the other opponent took advantage and finished us off. Alienware plans another matte black finish that they used for the Alienware 13 R2 non OLED revision.
The rest of the specification is the same to a Alienware 13 machines that were refreshed in September. The highest end machine can include Intel Core i7-6500U, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM as well as Geforce GTX 960M with 4GB.
