In addition to other devices, Google also announced its newest Chromebook on steroids, the Google Pixelbook.

Described as a high-performance Chromebook and running on Chrome OS, the Google Pixelbook is the thinnest and lightest laptop Google has ever made, at 10.3mm and 1.1kg. Based on a 4-in-1 design, the Pixelbook can be used as a standard laptop, with the keyboard folded beneath it or over it in the tent mode, or fully folded as a standard tablet.

The Pixelbook comes with a 12.3-inch 2400x1600 resolution touchscreen and is made mostly out of aluminum, with a couple of inserts below the keyboard and the glass shade on the back, mostly there so it can protect the screen and the touchpad when used in tablet or flipped mode.

The heart of the Pixelbook is Intel's 7th generation Core i5/Core i7 CPU, up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe storage, depending on the configuration. It also has a 720p front camera, a 41Whr battery that should keep it alive for around 10 hours of mixed use - where 15 minutes of charging will give you up to two hours of use, and two USB-C ports with fast charging. It also has a backlit keyboard, and four microphones that should go well with the integrated Google Assistant and two speakers.

Another novelty is its battery-powered Pixelbook Pen, which has been developed in cooperation with Wacom and has support for both pressure and angle. According to Google, it has a 10ms latency, 60-degree angular awareness and supports 2,000+ levels of pressure sensitivity.

The Google Pixelbook will be available in three configurations, starting at US $999 for 8GB of RAM, 128GB of SSD storage and Intel Core i5 CPU, US $1,199 for 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage and Core i5 CPU, and US $1,649 one that will have 16GB of RAM, 512GB of NVMe SSD storage and Core i7 CPU. The Pixelbook Pen will be sold separately for US $99. The Pixelbook should be available for pre-order as of today with shipments starting on October 31st.
