Sources say sequel already mapped out

The first Alan Wake title is finally going to be released on May 18th, and while the early reviews are suggesting that the title will be successful, sources are already telling us that Remedy has already mapped out the sequel, or season two, if you will.

It isn’t very often that anyone would want to jinx a game that has not even been released by putting out the word that a sequel is already mapped out. While our sources tell us that perhaps “mapped out” might a bit of a stretch in description, it is clear that the developers at least have a lot of ideas of where they want to take the title in the future.

The Remedy-developed Alan Wake had better deliver for Microsoft as they have a lot invested in this title, including a number of years waiting for it to be finished and the negative press that went along with all of the delays. In addition, there was also the cancellation of the originally promised PC version of the game that didn’t go over well with many.

We are going to give Alan Wake a hard look and see what all of this time and effort has created before we pass judgment on the potential for a sequel. We think it is far too early in the game to even talk about a sequel; besides, if you are going to talk about a sequel at all, someone needs to ask the question how long it could take to develop this sequel. I am not sure that I can wait four or five years for the sequel to the first Alan Wake. You never know… it could be just that good that it is worth waiting for.
