Remedy has not hidden the fact that they would like to do a sequel for Alan Wake. A recent job posting “…looking for a senior level designer to deliver a compelling narrative and intense action for a new game,” sounds like it might have Alan Wake 2 written all over it.
While Remedy has yet to confirm that they gearing up for an Alan Wake sequel, apparently the possibility of a sequel has gone from not looking so good to looking promising. The original Alan Wake suffered from delays as well as changes in plans, including the dumping of a PC release for Alan Wake. It is likely that if a sequel does come, it will likely be an Xbox 360 exclusive, from the whispers that we are hearing.
While Alan Wake was not the hit that Microsoft and Remedy expected at sales counter, it did do well with many reviewers and it has picked up momentum since release. Some of the momentum might be due to the fact that Microsoft moved to bundle the title with consoles during the holiday season, which did certainly get more people playing the title.
Our impression of Alan Wake was positive; and despite only two DLC packs were released for the game, we think a new Alan Wake title might do better this time around since Remedy has all of the experience of making the first title. We think this will lead to a richer and more captivating experience that just might catch on better with players.
