Microsoft used to have a motocross series a long time ago called Motocross Madness, and although the company has not released a new offering in the franchise since back in 2000, which was Motocross Madness 2, it could be that things are about to change. Namely, Microsoft has apparently filed for a trademark for something called “Avatar Motocross Madness,” which surely sounds like a new offering could be coming.
Based on the title, we would have to assume that it is a new motorcycle trick racing title that allows players to use their avatars to ride motorcycles racing in a number of environments and events. Of course, Microsoft has no comment on the possibility of the existence of such a title in development; but it surely seems like it would be a great project for the gang at a studio like BigPark, who brought us the title Joy Ride for Kinect.
Sources suggest that this could be the ticket, since BigPark already has an engine that they used for Joy Ride, and they have experience dealing with using Xbox Live Avatars in games developed Joy Ride and then working on Kinect Sports 2 with Rare. The BigPark web site offers no clue as to what they might be up to (other than to suggest that they are working on something top secret and suggesting we check back); but since they are a Microsoft studio, we have to think that this is a perfect fit.
While our sources would not confirm it, they agreed that BigPark does seem like the right developer for an Avatar Motocross Madness title. Let’s just hope that it isn’t a Kinect-only controlled offering.
