Crystal Dynamics admits Xbox One exclusivity language vague

Rise of the Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics claims that they had no intention of mis-leading or causing confusion to fans about the exclusivity deal for the game on the Xbox One that was announced a Gamescom.

The developer admits that the language was vague and studio head Darrel Gallagher’s post on the blog really didn’t help the situation. Mainly the issue is that he didn’t say if a PlayStation 4 or PC version would or would not be coming at some point in the future.

While Microsoft admitted under pressure that Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed exclusive, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics want people to know that opting for a timed exclusive was the best option or the developers to have the funding necessary to reach their dream as to what the game could be. It was not a decision that they took lightly, but it is obvious that they didn’t foresee all this backlash coming.

While still don’t know the plans for a release of the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game, we do now believe that they will happen at some point in the future. Just a question of when.
