As we speculated about recently, Rockstar has released a HD version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the Xbox 360. The thing is that it is actually a port of the Android/iOS version of San Andreas that ported over to the Xbox 360.
Normally this would not be a big deal and while it looks good, it isn’t all that it could have been on the Xbox 360. Instead when viewed side-by-side it is a close match to the Android/iOS version of the game as the folks at Digital Foundry uncovered.
Besides the Achievements being added to this Xbox 360 version, it is a scaled up version from the 720p assets. The frame rate is locked at 30 fps, and currently there is no way to unlock the frame rate on the 360 version. Digital Foundry reports that there is some stuttering if frame rate dips below 30 fps.
Interestingly enough, publisher Take-Two Interactive is not ruling out of the possibility of a HD remastered version of all of the GTA titles.
