CD Projekt Red confirms future of The Witcher franchise

One of two franchises on which to build the future

Although we certainly did not doubt it, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher is definitely here to stay so we can expect another game in this franchise in future.

Information was originally spotted by Techspot.com and comes from CD Projekt Red's CEO, Adam Kici?ski, interview with Bankier.pl site, in which he was quite keen to note that while the studio is currently focused on Cyberpunk 2077 game, it will not leave the world of The Witcher as it is one of two franchises on which the future of the company will be focused on.

He also added that first three titles in The Witcher series make for a solid trilogy, suggesting that the next game in the franchise might not be the sequel called The Witcher 4, but will certainly be focused on the same world.

"This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher. The Witcher is one of two franchises on which to build the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more."

In case you missed it, The Witcher will also get a Netflix series, which was announced back in May 2017, but it is possible that we won't see it before 2020.

We also doubt that we will see a new Witcher game anytime soon as we don't even have a specific launch date for Cyberpunk 2077 game. As said, each of The Witcher series games were probably one of the best RPG titles in their times and from what we could see at E3 2018 show, Cyberpunk 2077 will not be a disappointment either.
