Previously and still known just as Project Polaris, the project was officially announced over two and a half years ago when CD Projekt RED announced the switch from REDEngine to Epic's Unreal Engine 5. The new engine is said to speed up development and provide much better "predictability and efficiency".
Kalemba previously noted that the studio is still getting the hang of the new engine, and expects that the next installment surpasses current RPG games and The Witcher 3, bringing "a more intense story" and gameplay, as well as also being "an excellent entry point for many new players, without forgetting the long-time fans".
Now, Kalemba has announced, on its Twitter account, that Project Polaris has entered full-scale production phase, giving credit to the talented and hard-working people that will "make the upcoming Witcher Saga a remarkable experience".

We do not expect The Witcher 4 to launch anytime soon, as the full-production phase is still an early stage, but hopefully, the studio will soon provide more details.
