UK-based startup Joipaw wants to build a touchscreen console which will allow dogs to play games.

The Joipaw Console will come with a "dog-tailored touchscreen, a height-adjustable stand and an automated treat dispenser."

The theory is that dogs would be interested in interactive puzzle games, particularly if food is involved, rather than chasing cats and sniffing each other’s bottoms.

Joipaw proclaims on the console's reservation page that the console will have speakers, a microphone and a Full HD camera, and will be the smartest dog tech product to ever hit the market. Presumably, because the bar for dog game tech games is pretty low.

The idea started when co-founder Dersim Avdar was looking for a way to keep his dog, Kawet, amused when nobody was at home and thought that gaming would be the dog’s bollocks.

Avdar said he read about a study that revealed simple touchscreen games provided potential cognitive benefits for dogs with ageing brains.

"Our goal with this venture is to push for a better understanding and inclusion of dogs and animals in human societies by showing the world how intelligent they are," Avdar concluded.
