Improves frame rates

AMD has shipped the first public beta for the next version of its drivers this week, Catalyst 13.2 Beta 3.

Under the bonnet are a few things that will interest gamers. On the application support side. These are the first drivers that target Crysis 3, itself having just been released in beta form as a multiplayer beta. AMD claims it can manage a 15 percent performance improvement in scenarios with high degrees of MSAA, while promising further improvements as the game and the drivers are finalised.

The drivers are the first from AMD to fix some of the frame latency issues which have been spotted by Tech Report’s Scott Wasson. Wasson’s testing of an earlier version of these drivers found that frame latency was significantly reduced in a few different games he tested, including Skyrim, Boderlands 2, and Guild Wars 2.

The drivers are available directly from AMD’s site.
