Acer has a new G-Sync enabled monitor in the works, but it won’t ship until the first quarter of 2015.
The upcoming 27-inch XB270HU is a QHD (2560x1440) affair, but what sets it apart from its siblings is the fact that it supports Nvidia’s G-Sync technology. The panel itself delivers refresh rates of up to 144Hz, 350cd/m2 brightness, 1ms response time and 1000:1 contrast. Since it’s a G-Sync design, the XB270HU relies on DisplayPort 1.2.
TFT Central reports the monitor is based on an 8-bit TN panel. While many users are spoiled by 10-bit panels, or IPS panels for that matter, TN panels are still quite common on gaming monitors, as they can deliver high refresh rates and low response times on a budget.
Unfortunately there is still no word on the price, but then again the monitor won’t ship for months, so there’s no hurry.
