Since it has been a while since AMD actually released a WHQL-certified graphics driver, the new Catalyst 15.7 WHQL is definitely a nice addition. The new AMD Catalyst 15.7 WHQL driver comes with plenty of new features, including WDDM 2.0, HEVC decode for Xbox Video Player and Xbox One to PC game streaming support on Windows 10 OS, as well as AMD FreeSync support on Crossfire system, the new Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers also bring VSR (virtual super-resolution), now supported on R7 260 and above GPUs, and FRTC (frame-rate target control) support for Radeon 200-series graphics cards, which was previously limited to certain Radeon 300-series graphics cards.
The new Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers also brings a couple of improved Crossfire profiles for games like Battlefield: Hardline, Far Cry 4, Project CARS, Grand Theft Auto V, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and more as well as performance improvements for certain games.
It is obvious that Catalyst 15.7 WHQL driver is aimed at Windows 10 OS which should launch later this month and while we would have liked to see a bit more WHQL releases, AMD is apparently focused on only releasing major driver releases and has been quite proud with Catalyst Omega drivers released earlier.
According to a blog post written by Sasa Marinkovic, Head of Software Marketing at AMD, they were "blown away by the amount of interest a single driver can generate" and while Omega drivers were impressive, AMD was keen to deliver another great driver for a great OS, Windows 10.
As always, you can find the new AMD Catalyst 15.7 WHQL driver at AMD's official driver support site.
