This is probably the last possible date that makes any sense, this is the highest point of the consumer shopping spree peak in the west and Sony is expected to do well. Apparently people liked the PlayStation VR as the preorders sold out rather quickly.
The PlayStation 4 with 500GB hard drive is selling for $350 and we assume that many of the PlayStation VR already have a hard drive. If a customer wants to play with the PlayStation VR, they will need to spend an extra $399 for the PlayStation VR headset and an additional $59.99 for obligatory PlayStation Camera. The camera can be found today for $49.99 making the PlayStation VR the most affordable VR experience.
Sony has promised to have 50 VR games at launch and this is a biggest collection so far. This will finally set the right mood for VR. When the big studios bring Fallout 4 and Doom to the VR it will draw many more triple A titles to get some kind of VR support.
Mainstream VR is still away but many analysts believe that Sony will sell a few million PlayStation VRs before the end of the year.
