Priced at US $149.99

Samsung has added a new 500GB model to its budget-oriented 750 EVO SSD lineup, which comes with Samsung's MGX controller and is based on 16nm TLC NAND.

Officially unveiled back in February this year, the Samsung's 750 EVO SSD lineup was limited to 120GB and 250GB models, which although offered decent performance in the budget segment, were priced a bit too high. Today, Samsung has introduced a new 500GB capacity model, which should, according to Samsung, better serve the consumers who need high data consumption.

Same as the Samsung 850 EVO, the Samsung 750 EVO also uses Samsung's well known MGX controller but switches from 128Gbit TLC 3D V-NAND to standard Samsung-made 16nm planar TLC NAND,  a successor to the 19nm TLC NAND we have seen in the 840 EVO series. The 850 EVO also features 256MB of DRAM cache on all three models.

Performance wise, the new Samsung 750 EVO SSD 500GB model offers sequential performance of up to 540MB/s for read and up to 520MB/s for write. While Samsung did not reveal any details regarding random 4k performance, it should not be far from those on the 250GB 750 EVO SSD model, reaching 97K IOPS for read and 88K IOPS for write.

The Samsung 750 EVO SSD series also comes with proprietary TurboWrite, Dynamic Thermal Guard protection and RAPID Mode features as well as AES 256-bit hardware encryption. The Samsung 500GB 750 EVO SSD will also be backed by a three-year warranty and will have a 100TB written (TBW) endurance rating.

According to Samsung, the new 500GB 750 EVO SSD series model should be available in early June with an MSRP of US $149.99.
