Smartphone maker HTC has reported impressive earnings for the past quarter and its sales are going through the roof.

HTC’s sales jumped 41 percent in the first half of 2010 and there is no sign of a slowdown. Year-on-year revenues in June soared from $2.1 billion to $3 billion and the company reported record sales in the last quarter.

HTC’s success can be attributed to a number of factors. First of all it makes damn good phones. Secondly, HTC made quite a name for itself making phones for other companies, such as Google’s Nexus One. In recent years HTC managed to build up its own brand. As a result most carriers in western markets have started offering an increasing number of HTC products. The last contributing factor is the success of Google’s Android OS, which has been adopted in several HTC models.

Of course, HTC’s success came at the expense of other smartphone makers, mainly Nokia and RIM, which have failed to keep up with recent developments and seem destined to take a back seat in the market.
