Although quite a few punters though Samsung’s Galaxy Note line of phablets would never go mainstream, the oversized phone was a runaway success.

Sales of the original Note topped 10 million units and now Samsung reckons Galaxy Note 2 sales could pass 20 million units.

Samsung mobile boss J.K. Shin told reporters that sales could grow “more than twofold” and he also hinted that the Note II will launch sometime in October.

Although many believed it would be dead on arrival, the phablet form factor seems here to be here to stay. In fact the Galaxy Note is outselling proper Android tablets and sales are still picking up.
