A year ago, Apple sold some 10 million of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in the opening week. It looks like that people were impressed with positive reviews of the phone that is slightly improved iPhone 6 from a year ago, but with slightly better camera and the 3D touch. Apple managed to push the numbers to 13 million with the help of the Chinise market which did not have to wait this year. Last year, customers in China had to wait for the October 17 before the could get their iPhones.
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO of Apple said.
“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history”. Customers’ feedback is incredible and they love 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”
Apple announced that am extra 40 countries and territories will get the phone on the October 9 including Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Maldives, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan. On October 10, countries include Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available in India, Malaysia and Turkey on October 16 and in more than 130 countries by the end of the year.
This is the first iPhone that will officially launch in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Apple PR keeps calling the place Bosnia rather than using its full name. We might start calling the United States of America United America from now on. Some of Apple's "countries" are as big as the Isle of Man and Monaco. Apple was unsure about hacking off China so Taiwan was either a state of territory. Many rich Arab countries will get the iPhone on October 9 too.
Tim Cook glorified Live Photos at the launch – a feature that Apple clearly copied from HTC. This feature on HTC was called Zoe and worked just fine.
Apple seems unstoppable and the sales numbers from the iPhone 6S launch will bolster Apple’s 2015 fourth fiscal quarter results. Everything else after that date will fall back to fiscal first quarter of 2016.Wall Street didn't react positively on this news as the Apple stock was treading at 1 percent below opening price despite this "positive" news. It is pretty clear that it knows something the press doesn't and these figures are probably fairly terrible.
