As noted, all three first smartphones in the new Sony Xperia X series will be based on a 5-inch screen so there will be only slight differences in size. All three smartphones will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS but will be based on different chipset and aim for a different part of the market.
Xperia X Performance
The list starts with the flagship smartphone in the Xperia X lineup, the Xperia X Performance. Based on a 5-inch 1920x1080 screen and powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 SoC with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, the Xperia X Performance is also waterproof with IP68 certification and has a metal back.
It will feature a 32-megapixel rear camera with Sony's new Predictive Hybrid AutoFocus which lets you choose the focus point which camera software tracks. The front camera is a 13-megapixel one which should appeal to selfie lovers.
The precise dimensions of the Xperia X Performance are set at 144.8 x 71.1 x 7.6mm and it weighs 164.4g. The power button on the Xperia X Performance doubles up as a fingerprint reader. It has 32GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot and comes with a 2700mAh battery which should, according to Sony, keep it alive for around two days.
Xperia X
The Xperia X is quite similar to the Xperia X Performance as it has only slightly smaller 142.7 x 69.4 x 7.9mm dimensions and weighs a bit less at 153g. It also comes with a 5-inch 1920x1080 screen has the same cameras as the Xperia X Performance, a 23-megapixel main camera with Hybrid AF and 13-megapixel front one, and will be available with 32GB or 64GB of storage.
As it is aimed at a higher mid-range market, the Xperia X will be based on Snapdragon 650 SoC but also feature 3GB of RAM. It has slightly smaller 2620mAh battery, stereo speakers, power button that doubles up as a fingerprint reader and will be available in a couple of different color options, black, White, gold or rose gold.
Xperia XA
The Xperia XA will obvious cover the lower-end of the market as it has a 5-inch 1280x720 screen and is power by Mediatek's MT6755 chipset paired up with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, expandable via microSD card slot.
It lacks the fingerprint reader, has no stereo speaker, has a 13-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel front one and has a smaller 2300mAh battery, which should provide decent battery life considering the screen and the Mediatek's chipset.
The dimensions of the Xperia XA are set at 143.6 x 66.8 x 7.9mm and it weighs 137.4g.
