The new Moto X4 smartphone looks rather plain considering that most manufacturers are now aiming at bezel-less displays but then again, it does use a glass back design with a waterproof IP68 rating and brings dual-camera setup to its mid-range offer.
Built around a 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen with 1920x1080 resolution, leaving it with a 424 ppi, and protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 3, the Moto X4 measures at 148.35 x 73.4 x 7.99mm (9.45mm if you count the camera bump) and weighs 163g. The heart of the Moto X4 is Qualcomm's mid-range Snapdragon 630 octa-core SoC with two Cortex-A53 quad-core clusters working at 2.2GHz and 1.8GHz. The SoC comes with Adreno 508 GPU and will be backed by either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, depending on the region. It will also have 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 2TB via microSD card slot.
The biggest selling point for the Moto X4 is its main dual-camera, featuring main 12-megapixel 14um and f/2.0 lens, and secondary 8-megapixel 1.1um sensor with 120-degree wide-angle f/2.2 lens. The main camera brings phase-detection, dual-tone LED flash, bokeh effects, ultra-wide angle shot, selective black&white, background replacement, and 4K video recording features. The front camera is a 16-megapixel shooter placed behind a f/2.0 lens and featuring a dedicated front LED flash.
The rest of the Moto X4 features include a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging (6hrs in 15 minutes), front fingerprint scanner, three microphones, LTA Cat.13, 802.11ac dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB-C port, front-mounted speaker and three microphones, all the usual sensors and more.
The Moto X4 will run on Android 7.1 Nougat OS and will feature support for Amazon's Alexa, allowing users to access it even when the smartphone is locked.
The Moto X4 will be available in Super Black and Sterling Blue color options and will be first coming to Europe this September, with a price set at €399.
