Samsung S9 pictures and facts revealed

by on01 February 2018

February 25 MWC 18 announcement

It is well known that Samsung S9 will launch a day before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at a splashy event and even the pictures of both S9 and S9+ have been leaked. But here is a bit more on both devices.

The design is very similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, the bezel is very small and from the front they won’t look that much different from its 2017 flagship. The rather busy upper part of the bezel has a lot of cameras and sensors including  face unlocking/the iris way, the proximity as well as the front face camera and a speaker. It is small and it won't  botheryou that much. It's still way better than the camera notch on iPhone X/Essential phone that really catches your unwanted attention.

China and USA will get a Snapdragon 845 version, mainly due to its Snapdragon X20 modem CDMA capabilities. Verizon in the USA and China Telekom in China use this technology and Qualcomm mastered it better than Samsung with its Exynos 8910.

It will be interesting to compare these two versions of the phone, but just like the S8, Samsung doesn’t make a Snapdragon version of the phone running at its highest peak. Both chipsets are 10nm and both pay a lot of attention to picture quality. The Galaxy S9 uses a 5.8 inch Super Amoled while the S9 Plus uses a slightly bigger 6.2 inch Super Amoled.

The S9 comes with a well known 4GB/64GB configuration while the S9 Plus comes upgraded to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and a 12-megapixel camera on both. The camera comes with a unique mechanical adjustment that switches between f/2.4 and smallest-in-class f/1.5.

Shipping to customers will happen on March 16th, a bit earlier than last year.
