As you might have guessed from the name of the event, it is all about displays, as well as the while new Pixelworks chip and the NXTVISION 2.0, are touted to provide exceptional picture quality.
The TCL NXTVISION 2.0 Intelligent Display technology powered by Pixelworks, is the second-generation proprietary tech that provides, it is claimed, industry-leading color accuracy, and the improved AI visual enhancement recognizes on-screen content, scenes and automatically adjusts the color, contrast and sharpness for more accurate and adaptive calibration, as well as reduced eye strain and blue light.
TCL 20 Pro 5G is the new flagship with Snapdragon 750G 5G Mobile Platform
The TCL 20 Pro 5G measures at 164.2x73x8.77-9.07mm and weighs 190g. The main feature of the phone is its 6.67-inch Curved AMOLED screen with 2400x1080 resolution, leaving it with 394PPI of pixel density and 93% screen to body ratio. The screen has a 20:9 display ratio with a 2M:1 contrast ratio, excellent color accuracy (dE2000 less than 1.0), 700 typ. brightness, HDR10 support, and TÜV Reinland Certification.
The screen is protected by 3Dback and front glass, glossy, AG & high polished AF coating, and OPVD film.
As said, it is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 750G, and it is interesting that TCL did not go for the flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC. The SD750G is backed by 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, expandable to up to 1TB via microSD card.
In case you missed it, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G is one of Qualcomm's latest SoCs which brings 5G connectivity to mid-tier smartphones with Snapdragon X52 5G modem. You are looking at an 8nm SoC with two performance Cortex-A77 based Kryo 570 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six efficiency Cortex-A55 based Kryo 570 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz, paired up with Adreno 619 GPU, Hexagon 694 DSP with Tensor Accelerator, and Spectra 355L ISP.
The phone has a quad-sensor main camera at the rear featuring a main 48MP 1/2"/0.8μm pixel size Sony IMX582 sensor with AF (auto-focus), OIS, and 6P lens with f/1.79 aperture and 79° field of view. The main sensor is backed by a 16MP ultra wide-angle FF (fixed-focus) module with 1/3"/1.0μm sensor, and a 5P lens with f/2.4 aperture and 123° field of view. The other two sensors are 5MP macro one with FF and 2MP depth one.
The front camera, placed in the center punch-hole, is a 32MP FF 1/2.8"/0.8μm pixel size sensor with a 5P lens with f/2.45 aperture and 80.4° field of view.
The TCL 20 Pro 5G comes with an under-display optical fingerprint sensor, 4,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast wired charging, and 15W fast wireless charging.
The TLC 20 Pro 5G should be available as of today with a price set at a rather affordable €549.
TCL 20L+ and TCL 20L are decent mid-rangers with Snapdragon 662 SoC
The TCL also introduced two new mid-range smartphones, both powered by Qualcomm's 11nm Snapdragon 662 SoC.
The TCL 20L+ and the TCL 20L are pretty much the same smartphones, and the only noticeable difference is the rear camera system, as well as the amount of memory and internal storage.
Both smartphones measure 166.2x76.9x9.1mm and tip the scales at 199g. Both feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ 2400x1080 resolution screen with 2.5D front glass and 3D PMMA/PC Matte back, leaving it with 91 percent of screen-to-body ratio and 395PPI of pixel density. The display itself is a 20:9 aspect ratio one with 500nits of peak brightness and a 1500:1 contrast ratio.
The 11nm Snapdragon 662 SoC might lack 5G connectivity but it should still provide decent performance with up to 2GHz clocked Kryo 260 CPU cores, Adreno 610 GPU, Snapdragon X11 LTE modem, and Spectra 340 ISP. The Snapdragon 662 SoC is paired up with 6GB of LPDDR4x memory and 256GB of internal storage on the TCL 20L+, and 4GB of LPDDR4x memory and 128GB of internal storage (eMCP) on the TCL 20L. Both feature a microSD card slot.
The TCL 20L+ also comes with a better rear camera system, featuring a 64MP main sensor, 8MP wide-angle one, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. The front camera features a 16MP sensor.
The TCL 20L comes with a slightly downgraded rear camera system, featuring a 48MP main sensor, 8MP wide-angle one, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. The front camera also features a 16MP sensor.
Both the TCL 20L+ and the TCL 20L come with the same 5,000mAh battery with 18W wired and no option for wireless charging, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, usual connectivity options with as well as Android 11 OS with TCL UI.
TCL also unveiled the TCL 20S, which is pretty much the TCL 20L+ but with a different chipset meant for the North American market, but so far no details were mentioned about the chip, and we can't find it listed on the TCL site.
The TCL 20L+ and the 20L should be available as of today with a price set at €269 and €229, respectively.
