According to industry sources, Samsung's Exynos 2200 with AMD GPU could be coming to laptops and smartphones in the second half of the year.

According to The Korea Economic Daily, spotted by Anton Shilov over at Tomshardware.com, it appears that Samsung's Exynos 2200, one with a custom GPU based on AMD's RDNA architecture, will be based on Samsung's 5nm 5LPE manufacturing process and could come this year.

The new Exynos 2200 will most likely be similar to the Exynos 2100, relying on similar technologies, but possibly come with more or higher clocked Cortex X1 cores.

"The new Exynos will offer improved functions, including extraordinary computing power and battery efficiency, by utilizing a 5-nanometer processing technology," an industrial source told The Korea Economic Daily. "It's good for both laptops and smartphones."

The new Exynos 2200 could come in Samsung's next Galaxy Book laptop refresh and hopefully, Samsung will be able to scale it properly between laptops and smartphones, without compromising the performance or the battery life.

Samsung has yet to provide any official specifications for the Exynos 2200 SoC so hopefully, we will hear more soon.
