New HONOR flagship is brilliant but costs a fortune

by on28 February 2023

Priced higher than an iPhone but with a much better spec

HONOR’s new Magic 5 Pro is a brilliant phone that is so pricey it makes Apple’s iPhone look like a budget knockoff.

The Magic 5 Pro is the company’s 2023 flagship and ships with the best processor of the year, a top-of-the-line camera system, a huge battery, and super-fast wired and wireless charging. It also has a unique design that does not look like every other smartphone out there.

The only problem is that the phone costs €1,199 for the model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, the only model available globally. HONOR said it comes in two colours — black and Meadow Green. At the launch, the company showed off five colours: blue, light grey, and orange.

Most of the money appears to have been spent on the camera, which has good hardware and sexier algorithms to make capturing photos faster, easier, and with better results.
