Microsoft might be folding on the fold

Dual-screen foldable smartphone seemingly abandoned

The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell on earth yarn claiming that software king of the world Microsoft has given up on foldable smartphones even before its rival Apple has invented them.

Microsoft's Surface Duo was last updated in October 2022 when it got Android 12L, but since then no new features and bug fixes have appeared. Android 12L for Surface Duo was far from a perfect release.

The company has continued to release Android security updates, but the changelogs for these monthly updates make no mention of general OS fixes or improvements, which implies Microsoft is doing the bare minimum. In April, the Surface Duo did not even get the April 2023 security update, marking the first time since the device launched that Microsoft has failed to issue an up-to-date security patch for the device.

Vole's Android app teams are snubbing the Duo as if it were a rabid dog. SwiftKey just recently got updated with Bing AI capabilities which work across a wide range of Android smartphones but not the Surface Duo.

Microsoft has kept quiet about the phones fate but we suspect an announcement is coming.
