The new Snapdragon X Plus SKUs, the X1P-46-100 and the X1P-42-100, both come with an 8-core Oryon CPU built on a 4nm manufacturing process and packing 30MB of total cache. Those 8 CPU cores work at 3.4GHz (3.2GHz for the X1P-42-100 SKU) with a single core boost of up to 4.0GHz (3.4GHz boost for the X1P-42-100 SKU).
According to Qualcomm, this is enough to provide up to 79 percent faster CPU performance with 49 percent faster single-core performance. Of course, Qualcomm is not comparing the latest CPUs, so we'll have to wait to see some third-party benchmark results, pushing this chip against Intel's new Core Ultra 200V series SKUs.
The Hexagon NPU inside the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus is enough for 45 TOPS of AI performance, which is enough for the Microsoft Copilot+ badge, considering it needs "40+ TOPS". We did not get any information about the GPU, other than it is an Adreno GPU reaching 2.1 and 1.7 TFLOPs for those two SKUs.
“The first and best Copilot+ PCs are powered by Snapdragon X Series platforms, launching a new generation in personal computing, made possible by our groundbreaking NPU,” said Cristiano Amon, President and Chief Executive Officer, Qualcomm Incorporated. “With Snapdragon X Plus 8 -core, we are now bringing to more users these transformative AI experiences, and the best-in-class performance and unprecedented battery life of our power efficient custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU. We're proud to be working with leading global OEMs and retail partners to expand our portfolio and enable enterprise customers and consumers.”
According to Qualcomm, select PCs powered by Snapdragon X Plus 8-core SKUs will be available as of today, with ASUS leading the pack.
