Flagship tech for 5G

MediaTek today launched the Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 system-on-chips (SoCs) which it claims will bring flagship level technology to premium 5G smartphones.

Lacks in GPU, 5G, imaging, features 

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 got a lot of coverage, and the marketing machine is trying to promote this chipset as a premium. Guess what? Dimensity 9000 is not a premium chipset as it suffers from stitched stock Cortex IP, stock Mali GPU, lack of premium phone design wins, and, most importantly, too optimistic SoC clocks. The clocks, especially the mid-cluster, might get the company in trouble due to the high energy drain.

Mediatek has announced its new Dimensity 5G chipset family, with 7nm Dimensity 1000 as its first premium integrated 5G chipset. This is a single 5G chip solution with octa-core Cortex-A77 and Cortex-A55 CPU cores, ARM Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, hexa-core APU 3.0 for AI, dual 5G SIM, and more.
